Last week (10.14) I had the chance to catch the Metalcore band Bilmuri at a sold out Admiral show and it was killer! The band is red hot right now selling out theaters all across the country on their "Summer Slammer" tour. Even with the temps in the low 50s outside the building was sweltering from all the moving bodies. Bilmuri brought along the pop-metal band John Harvie to warm up the crowd.
When I got to the venue the line was still way down the block with people trying to get in. I stepped inside and was hit with a wall of heat and could barely move there were so many people already packing the place out!
The night started with John Harvie who got the party started right. His upbeat rock jams had the crowd moving. He did a great job getting things started and even pulled out a spirited cover of "Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd. He mentioned several times throughout the set that he has been putting out new songs so check him out!
Finally it was time for the man of the hour Bilmuri! I was first introduced to Bilmuri when I heard him rapping some bars on a Dance Gavin Dance song. I hear his latest single on 89.7 The River recently so you know he has some heat on him. His tour has been selling out left and right so I knew this would be a great show to check out. Right from the jump the whole band was bouncing with energy and had the crowd on their feet. It's been a while since I felt the shuffle of crowd surfers coming over the rail behind me in the photo pit during the very first song. All night the younger crowd was surfing up to the rail and over. All over the floor there were mini mosh pits breaking out as the crowd sang along to the upbeat saxaphone-driven bangers.
Bilmuri and crew blazed through their set at a breakneck pace. It felt like an hour went by in the blink of an eye. I really enjoyed Bilmuri's banter to the audience. He had a lot of quips about enjoying the Midwest, people eating corn-fed beef in Omaha, and big cowboys, etc. It was a hoot!
Bilmuri put on an electric show we won't soon forget. If you get the chance to catch him on a headliner or festival you definitely should. It's super fun.
Thanks for reading and we'll see you at the next one!
