Now back to the story....
Last night (9/13) Dirty Honey brought their California Dreamin’ Tour to the Bourbon Theater in Lincoln, NE along with friends Dorothy and Mac Saturn. Once again 104.1 The Blaze brought us a killer lineup of rock bands to shake things up on a Tuesday! Before the show I caught up with some friends at the local pizza place next door and fellow photographer, Bob DeHart. We chatted it up about various shows we have done over the years and what to expect that evening. The line began to wrap around the building just before the doors opened. I decided to chat with some fans in line and met some more great people who I would now consider my friends. The doors finally swung open and everyone piled inside. The room filled quickly since this was a sold out show!
Just before Mac Saturn took the stage, I talked to some more photographers in the pit. Pam from Go Venue, Cassie, and Gabby who is Mac Saturn’s tour photographer. I just want to quickly shout them out because we need more women empowerment in this industry and it was great to see a photo pit full of talented women!
Straight out of Detroit, Michigan, Mac Saturn took the stage and I was so hyped for them. I have been listening to their music for a couple months and I just absolutely adore them. Their music will put you in such a tremendous mood and their live performance is killer! So much movement and charisma. These guys know what they’re doing. I have seen quite a few great artists rolling out of Michigan lately and it’s really cool to see. The whole time I was shooting I was singing along to their songs. They just released an EP titled Until The Money Runs Out. If you haven’t listened to them, what are you doing? Go check them out!
Dorothy was next. I was thrilled to shoot for them because I missed them when they were in Omaha in May. Dorothy is a rock band based out of Los Angeles, California and named after the lead vocalist Dorothy Martin. Dorothy took the stage with a rather sultry and eerie presence at first, and then she opened her mouth and belted out the most powerful melody. What do the kids say these days? “Pop off Queen!”. I was in awe. I had listened to their music a couple months before the show and I was absolutely blown away by their live performance. They really got the crowd pumped for Dirty Honey.
Dirty Honey was the final band to take the stage. Just before they played, Sparky from 101.4 The Blaze popped on stage to say a few words and to cheer the crowd on. I have to be honest, I hadn’t listened to Dirty Honey’s music until the day before the show, but after their live performance, I’m a fan! They were fantastic! Dirty Honey is another great rock band from Los Angeles, California. Their stage presence is one for the books too. I mean, they sold out the venue! It was a great show and I hope they come back soon.
I would like to thank Dirty Honey and 101.4 The Blaze for having me out and to all the wonderful staff at The Bourbon. You guys are great! You can catch the rest of the California Dreamin’ Tour on the dates listed below. Until next time my friends.
