It was a pop-punk and emo affair at the Waiting Room in Omaha on Monday (8.17) as Driveways played a 10-year celebration show. Rounding out the package were Berkley pop-punkers Like Roses, post-hardcore all-stars Action/Adventure, and new-comers Don't Panic. Let's get into it!

The night started promptly at 7:00 with Don't Panic from Pennsylvania. I had never heard them before but that's ok! Sometimes going in blind can be really fun. They had a few bops and the crowd was digging it. The funniest part was the Limp Bizkit intro music. It let the crowd know they don't take themselves too seriously.

Next up was Action/Adventure. These guys absolutely ripped! I was so stoked during and after their set. I had such a great time watching these dudes throw down. I told their singer I hope they come back because I want to be front row singing every word. They had so much energy and got the circle pit moving. I really dug their post-hardcore sound. I saw a couple Dance Gavin Dance shirts in the crowd and I wouldn't be surprised if those folks were there for Action/Adventure. If you get the chance to see Action/Adventure live you definitely should.

Next was Like Roses from Berkley, CA. I've been following Like Roses since 2018 and I'm so glad to see them getting on bigger tours and festivals. In 2018 I was on a work trip to San Fransisco and looking for shows to hit up on a random Thursday night. I found a show at the Bottom of the Hill club and Like Roses was on the bill. They rocked my face off and I told them if they ever make it out to Omaha I would be there. They've been able to come through twice now. Last year they opened for the Wonder Years and it was really fun.

This year there were sooo many people in the crowd with Like Roses shirts it was crazy! The band is really getting their name out there and I've seen them mentioned on lots of current emo/pop-punk up-and-coming lists. Like Roses' set was really great this time around. They had such passion and power and even got to play some new songs! Hopefully they'll have an official full-length album out soon. The band mentioned how much they loved Omaha and wanted to get a house here and they would all live together. That would be so rad!

Last up was Driveways! They're on the road celebrating 10 years as a band. Driveways had a really full sound for only having three members. From the first note the crowd surged forward and sang along loudly. There were a few small pops of moshing and circle pits but overall the crowd danced and sang with smiles on their faces.

For a Monday night the Waiting Room was packed! This was a really great package of bands with something for everyone. I feel like Omaha does pretty well with the Emo/Pop-punk scene. Nearly every Emo Nite that comes to the Waiting Room is sold out so this show was a no-brainer even if it was on a Monday.

Driveways played a good mix of songs from their whole discography, even throwing in their new single "Melancholy". Some of my personal highlights were "Ambulance", "Lights on Long Island" and of course the closer "October Forever".

I had a great time capturing all the bands and I hope to see many of them again soon! Big thanks to Driveways management for photo access.

Thanks for reading and we'll see you at the next one!
