Now back to the story....
Several months ago I was introduced to this very talented woman’s music and I haven’t stopped listening since. When I saw Hannah Wicklund was coming to Omaha with her band, The Steppin Stones, I jumped on the opportunity. Before the show started, I met up with some friends and went to dinner at a local ramen shop in Benson, called Ika Ramen. I think it’s very important to support small businesses and this place was phenomenal.
After our extravagant meal we headed over to the Reverb Lounge. I caught up with some old and new friends. I met some Greta Van Fleet fans as well. A side note, Hannah Wicklund is dating the bassist of Greta Van Fleet, Sam Kiszka. That’s how I discovered her music. I wish I had a better story on how I came upon her music, but I don’t. I think finding new music is one of the best forms of therapy for me personally. When I heard Hannah for the first time, my jaw dropped.
Hannah took the stage with her band and began playing the most psychedelic rock jam I have ever heard. I love when artists come on stage and jam for a little bit before playing their songs. It really invites the crowd and sets the tone for the evening. She and her band played their hearts out. They even played my favorite song "Looking Glass" from the self-titled album Hannah Wicklund And The Steppin Stones.
Hannah also treated us to some new tunes that will be on her next album. Her voice reminds me of so many of my favorite classic female artists but is also the most unique. I love to see women in rock n roll and in the music scene in general. We need more representation and she does just that. Her music really gives a voice for women and a great space to express. She also creates beautiful art originals and prints that you can purchase. We love a mixed media queen!
Hannah and her band are almost done with their run on the Strawberry Moon Tour. They just finished a run in Canada, opening for Greta Van Fleet on their Dreams In Gold Tour and have a few more headlining shows left. After the show I had the ultimate pleasure of talking to Hannah and her band. She is the sweetest and most down to Earth person and her bandmates are the same. I would love to do more work for her and her band in the future.
I would like to thank Hannah and her band for having me out. It was the best time and I’m so grateful. I would also like to thank the Reverb Lounge for your great hospitality, especially Dave Campbell. You’re the man! You can catch the rest of the Strawberry Moon Tour on the select dates listed below!
