Story and Photos: Spencer Fleming
It was a mix of nostalgia and new wave at the Steelhouse Sunday night (3.22) when 2000s pop-punk band Boys Like Girls brought their "Soundtrack of Your Life" tour to Omaha.
I definitely remember some of Boys Like Girls' hits like "The Great Escape" and "LoveDrunk", but for me personally the band leaned a bit more on the pop side of pop-punk. The main reason I was at the show was an old favorite, I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME (IDKHOW). Old is a relative term as they're just coming up on ten years, but I've been shooting their shows since 2018. I also say they/them but it's really Dallon Weekes' solo project with a cast of supporting players. Dallon spent several years in Panic! at the Disco and The Brobecks, before starting IDKHOW. Dallon and his band are supporting Boys Like Girls throughout the whole tour which is over 30 dates stretching into May. That's quite the run! I'm glad I got to see them at the beginning of the tour because they were firing on all cylinders.
Dallon always puts on an amazing show with his glammed out theatrics. Unfortunately the set was a bit shorter since it was an opening slot, so the crowd didn't get the extended sing-along for "A Letter" (Brobecks song) or Dallon's famous crowd walk during "Visitation of the Ghost", but I really can't complain. Every time IDKHOW has come to Nebraska I've made sure to catch them. There are some bands that are on my list as a never-miss and IDKHOW is definitely one of them. Check out these sweet photos! I was also able to capture the openers Arrows In Action and of course the headliner Boys Like Girls. Let us know if you were there and what your favorite part of the show was!
Thanks so much to Steelhouse for photo access. Steelhouse is quickly becoming one of my favorite venues in Omaha.
Thanks for reading and we'll see you at the next one!
