Several months ago when Stir Cove announced they were bringing Teddy Swims as part of their summer line-up my ears perked up. My good friend Joe Desanti from the Review Junkie shot Teddy's show at The Admiral last fall and said it was incredible. A week later, tickets for the show sold out in minutes. Now I was really interested! Literally 5,000 tickets gone in minutes? I knew this was going to be a great show. Sure enough, Thursday night (9.12.24) at the Stir Cove was out of this world! Teddy Swims is the real deal. His smooth soulful voice had the whole crowd singing along all night long.
Before we get too deep I want to give a shout out to Debbie. I struck up a conversation with Debbie during the opener Breland. She drove almost seven hours from Wichita for the show and had to drive back the same night! Debbie wanted to see Teddy Swims so bad she even gave up a ticket to another show because of the schedule conflict. When she was looking at tour dates Omaha/Council Bluffs was the closest to her so she made the trek all by herself. Now that is some real dedication. Debbie said she moves a lot for her job but it allows her to see tons of concerts and she hit nearly 50 last year! I love meeting people who love live music as much as I do and Debbie was definitley my type of people. Thanks for chatting with me Debbie!
So many people packed into Stir Cove for this beautiful night of music.
Before Teddy Swims the TikTok country/hip-hop singer Breland got the crowd warmed up. His mix of pop-country, rock, and soul had the crowd grooving. I've never been a huge fan of pop-country but I can appreciate Breland's stage presence and ability to have fun with the crowd. He ended his set with the viral TikTok song "Don't Touch My Truck" and the place went wild.
With the sun down and a beautiful breeze Teddy Swims took the stage and his band fired up "Goodbye's Been Good To You" from his debut studio album I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1). Teddy's music has such a range from upbeat pop-rock to blues to soul and country. Teddy's fanbase ran the gamut from punk rockers to cowboys and cowgirls to young hip-hop heads. It's amazing to see how music can bring so many people of all different walks of life together.
Teddy focused on songs from his debut album but he threw it back to some older hits for all his die-hard fans and even brought out Breland for a cover of Shania Twain's "You're Still The One". Teddy said fans come up to him all the time and tell him they got married to his version of the song. Throughout the set Teddy seemed so humble and genuine. He thanked the crowd for all their support saying several times "Y'all saved my life, you don't even know". After a good hour of giving us the chills Teddy brought out the big guns with his big radio hits "Lose Control" and "The Door". From front to back everyone was on their feet singing every word. This show was one for the books. Joe and I tried to head out about halfway through the last song and as we were leaving there were people outside the gates watching through the fence just trying to get a glimpse of this superstar performer.
We ended up getting stuck in traffic for almost half an hour after catching the closing song, but it's ok. It was worth it. Next time Teddy Swims comes to town I wouldn't be surprised if he sells out Pinnacle Bank or CHI. If you weren't able to score tickets for this sold out show make sure to give Teddy a follow so you can catch him next time.
A huge thanks to Stir Cove and Teddy Swims management for photo access.
Thanks so much for reading and we'll see you at the next one!
